Gutsy cinema that breaks new ground

Following up Une jeunesse allemande (2015), Jean-Gabriel Périot continues exploring history’s ghosts with this tribute to the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima. Akihiro is filming a documentary to mark the 70th anniversary of the bombing. He meets an enigmatic young woman who becomes his impromptu guide through Hiroshima and the paths of memory. With his cinematic alter ego, Périot delivers a sensitive account of the weight of forgetfulness and the reality of memory in a singular film perched between fiction and documentary.IN COMPETITION
