Gutsy cinema that breaks new ground
TURKEY , Netherlands | 84 minutes | 2017
A distinctively realized political metaphor results when an explosive period of social conflict meets the forces of nature. Keltek’s film is based on a tragic episode in the Turkish crackdown on the Kurds. The director juxtaposes forbidden footage of the incident — incorporated here to preserve a trace of what occurred — with his own unique, gra-nular black-and-white images that seem drawn from the recesses of memory. A first feature that scoffs at the boundary between documentary and experimental fiction.IN COMPETITIONPresented by the Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire à Montréal (RIDM)
