Engaging with the world
PALESTINE , France , Switzerland , Qatar | 94 minutes | 2017
Against the ever-shifting backdrop of global politics, a hard-hitting work on the trauma experienced by former Palestinian detainees held as enemies of the state of Israel. Best doc winner at the last Berlinale, this unsettling film uses a generic warehouse space to recreate the notorious Israeli interrogation centre where thousands of Palestinians considered potentially harmful to the Jewish state were incarcerated. Part improvised docudrama, part group therapy and unquestionably controversial, Ghost Hunting’s radical, punch-in-the-gut approach to catharsis is both deeply moving and terrifyingly visceral.IN COMPÉTITION
