KONSTANTINA KOTZAMANI MEETS MATTHEW RANKIN

Greek director Konstantina Kotzamani made a name for herself at the Cannes and Berlin film festivals. Here, she presents her films, followed by a master class. Born in Komotini, in 1983, Konstantina studied pharmaceutics and cinema at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She participated at Berlin and Sarajevo Talent Campus as director. Her short films have been screened in countless international festivals and won many awards.

Matthew Rankin was born in Winnipeg and studied history at McGill University and Université Laval. Working with photochemical hybrid forms, Rankin’s short films have exhibited at Sundance, TIFF, Festival du nouveau cinéma, Annecy, SXSW, Clermont-Ferrand, Rotterdam and one of his films was briefly banned in his native Manitoba. His recent short, Tesla World Light, premiered at the International Critics Week at the Cannes Film Festival and he is presently in post-production on his first feature-length motion picture, The Twentieth Century. He works in French, English and, increasingly, Esperanto.

Each director was ask to choose a film from the other director and will be screened during this meeting.

There will be a discussion between the two directors on their respective cinematographic approaches.
