POLAND | 156 minutes | 1981

The continuation of Man of Marble (1976), this feature film, winner of the 1981 Palme d’Or, is based on the famous struggle for workers’ rights that emerged in Poland with the birth of the Solidarnosc (Solidarity) trade union movement. With its carousel of characters ready to fight socialist oppression on any terms, Man of Iron is a brilliant set piece.
